Why Nutrition Matters

Chronic conditions, including cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes, affect millions of people and remain a major global health concern.

What you eat is one of several factors that can influence long-term health.

Nutrition interacts with metabolism, immune function, digestive health, cognitive wellbeing and many other processes throughout the body. When nutrition is approached thoughtfully, it can provide a strong foundation for better health, alongside appropriate medical care.

working with me

I do not simply hand you a meal plan and wish you luck. Here is what working together looks like in my practice.

  • Before your first appointment, you will complete a detailed questionnaire to help identify the key areas we need to explore. I only begin developing your plan after we have spoken, so it is shaped by your history, needs and circumstances rather than assumptions.

  • This 60-to-80-minute consultation is focused entirely on you. We will discuss your symptoms, health history, lifestyle and goals while I take structured notes and begin connecting the wider picture.

  • Within five working days, we will meet for a 30-minute session in which I will explain your plan and the reasoning behind each recommendation. Where appropriate, I may suggest further testing or provide a letter for you to discuss with your GP.

  • Depending on your programme, you will receive continued guidance to answer questions, stay organised and remain engaged with the changes you have chosen to make.

  • After three to six weeks, we will review your progress, discuss what felt manageable and identify anything that needs adjusting. The number of review sessions will depend on your chosen programme.

  • The final session is designed to build independence, not dependence. We will review your progress, answer remaining questions and make sure you feel confident about your next steps. You will also learn how to assess health information more critically, helping you make informed decisions beyond our time together.

Herbal Medicine & Medicinal Mushrooms

I have always been fascinated by the relationship between nature and human health. Herbal remedies and medicinal mushrooms have long histories of traditional use, with growing scientific interest in their active compounds.

HERBAL MEDICINE

Herbal remedies contain powerful active compounds including polyphenols, flavonoids, alkaloids, and volatile oils. Adaptogens help regulate stress hormones, bitter compounds support digestion, and anti-inflammatory constituents work throughout the body. I select herbs based on their specific phytochemical profile to match your clinical needs.

Medicinal Mushrooms

Medicinal mushrooms are rich in beta-glucans, triterpenes, polysaccharides, and antioxidants. These bioactive compounds support immune modulation, cellular energy, neuroprotection, and inflammatory balance. Each mushroom species has a unique chemical signature, which is why I choose specific varieties based on your health goals.

Medicinal Mushrooms

Medicinal mushrooms contain naturally occurring compounds such as beta-glucans, triterpenes and polysaccharides. Research continues to explore their potential role in areas including immune function, cellular health and general wellbeing. Each species has a different chemical profile. Any recommendation is therefore based on its evidence, suitability and relevance to your circumstances.

HERBAL remedies

Herbs contain a wide range of naturally occurring compounds, including polyphenols, flavonoids, alkaloids and volatile oils. Different herbs have traditionally been used to support areas such as digestion, stress response and general wellbeing. When herbs are appropriate, I select them carefully with consideration for their evidence, safety, dosage and potential interactions with medication.
